Privacy, plainly.
- No account. You never give us your email, phone number or real name.
- Your baby’s data stays on your iPhone — unless you turn on Family Sharing.
- No tracking, no advertising identifiers, no third-party analytics or ad SDKs.
- Sponsored cards are our own, contextual and clearly labelled — never personalised.
- Photos and videos never leave your iPhone. Purchases are handled by Apple.
- Leave a family or email us, and your shared data is deleted.
Who we are
Baby Sleep & Milestones (“the app”) is made by Seven Generations Labs LLC (“7gens”, “we”, “us”), 1209 Mountain Road Pl NE, Ste R, Albuquerque, NM 87110, USA. This policy explains what information the app handles, where it goes and the choices you have. Questions: support@7gens.me.
On your iPhone
The app is local-first. Everything you enter is stored in the app’s private storage on your iPhone (shared only with the app’s own widgets and Live Activity):
- your baby’s profile — name, birth date, due date if your baby was born early, and an optional photo;
- sleep sessions and the current sleep, milestone observations, memories (title, note, date, optional photo or video) and the activities you mark as done;
- your settings, such as appearance, goals and notification preferences.
We cannot see this information. If you use iCloud Backup or back up to a computer, iOS may include it in those backups, which Apple handles under its own privacy policy. Reminders are scheduled locally on your iPhone; we do not use push notifications.
What reaches our servers
Without Family Sharing (everyone)
- Content updates. The app downloads the latest activity and milestone library. These requests contain no personal information.
- Sponsored cards (free version only). To pick a card, the app sends the place it will be shown (for example “play feed”) and your baby’s age in weeks — nothing else. When a card is shown or tapped, the app sends an anonymous count for that card. No device ID, name or other identifier is attached.
With Family Sharing (Baby Plus)
Family Sharing lets you log together with a partner, grandparent or nanny. Only when you create or join a family does the app send data to our servers:
- A random device ID and an access token generated for your iPhone. We store only a one-way hash of the token. The device ID is not linked to your Apple ID, phone number or any advertising identifier. We also store the platform and app version, which help us keep the app compatible.
- Family details: your baby’s name, the display name each member chooses (for example “Mom” or “Grandpa”) and when each member joined.
- The records you share: your baby’s profile (name, birth date, due date if set), sleep sessions and the current sleep, milestone observations, memory text (date, title, note and linked milestone) and activity logs. Photos and videos are never uploaded — they stay on the iPhone where they were added.
Shared records are visible to every member of your family and to no one else. They are stored in Google Cloud Firestore in the United States, encrypted at rest, and accessed only through our API. Invite codes expire after 72 hours and work once.
Subscriptions
Payments are handled entirely by Apple; we never see your payment details, name or email. To confirm Baby Plus, the app may send us the transaction Apple signed for your purchase, and Apple notifies our server when a subscription renews, expires or is refunded. From these we keep the transaction identifier, product, expiry and refund dates and whether it was a test purchase. This record is not linked to your family data.
Technical logs
Our servers keep short-lived operational logs (which kind of request, whether it succeeded, how long it took) for up to 30 days. We do not log IP addresses, device IDs, invite codes or anything you write. Like any website or app, your IP address is visible to our hosting provider while a request is delivered and may be used briefly to protect the service from abuse; we do not store it.
What we never do
- We don’t require or offer an account, and we don’t ask for your email or phone number.
- We don’t track you across apps or websites, use the advertising identifier (IDFA) or ask for tracking permission.
- We don’t include third-party analytics, advertising or social SDKs.
- We don’t sell, rent or share personal information with data brokers or advertisers.
- We don’t use your baby’s records to target sponsored cards.
Sponsored cards
The free version shows a small number of clearly labelled “Sponsored” cards that we select ourselves, based only on where the card appears and your baby’s age in weeks. They never appear on sleep timers, at night, while recording milestones or on safety information, and Baby Plus removes them. Tapping a card opens the sponsor’s website in your browser, where the sponsor’s privacy policy applies.
Who processes data for us
| Provider | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Google Cloud (Cloud Run, Firestore, Firebase Hosting) | Running our API, storing Family Sharing data, hosting this website | United States |
| Apple | App distribution, payments and subscription notifications | Per Apple’s policies |
Both act under contracts that restrict how they may use the data. If you live outside the United States, Family Sharing data is transferred to and stored in the United States.
Keeping and deleting data
- On your iPhone: data stays until you delete it in the app or delete the app.
- Leaving a family: your device is removed from the family immediately. Records you shared remain available to the members who stay, because they are part of the family’s shared log.
- When a family ends: when the owner deletes the family, or the last member leaves, all of its records and pending invites are permanently deleted from our database.
- On request: email support@7gens.me and we will delete the data associated with your device or family, usually within 30 days. We do not keep backups of Family Sharing data beyond that.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or California law), you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict its use, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Because we don’t know who you are, the easiest way to exercise these rights is from within the app (leave or delete the family) or by emailing us from the iPhone that uses Family Sharing. We will respond within 30 days and never discriminate against you for making a request.
Where the GDPR applies, we process Family Sharing data to provide the feature you asked for (contract), and anonymous counts and operational logs based on our legitimate interest in running and protecting the service.
Children’s privacy
The app is made for parents and caregivers. It is not directed to children, and children should not use it. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Information about your child — such as their name, birth date and sleep — is entered by you, stays on your iPhone, and is shared only with the family members you invite, if you choose to use Family Sharing.
Security
All network traffic is encrypted with HTTPS. Access tokens are stored only as hashes, family data is accessible only to the family’s members through our API, and our systems run with the minimum permissions they need. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for meaningful changes, let you know in the app before they take effect.
